About the position

The Design Verification Engineer role at Apple focuses on verifying the functionality and performance of Apple's premier System on Chips (SOCs). This position is critical within Apple's Hardware Technology organization, where engineers will develop and support tools and frameworks for SOC hardware development and verification across multiple projects. The role involves collaboration with hardware design and verification engineers, as well as external tool vendors, to ensure effective integration and automation in the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and support robust, configurable, and scalable tools and frameworks for SOC hardware development and verification.
  • Work directly with hardware design and verification engineers across multiple sites to deliver dedicated solutions.
  • Partner with internal automation teams to improve flows and drive new requirements.
  • Identify, capture, and analyze metrics for improved automation reliability and efficiency.
  • Support projects from start to finish and forecast future needs to stay ahead of project demand.
  • Engage with external tool vendors to ensure accurate integration and leverage of their tools.
  • Identify opportunities for the development and deployment of new software and technologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree with 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of automation within a hardware or software development environment.
  • Significant experience scripting in Unix environment with Perl, Python, or Ruby.
  • Solid understanding of modern software development processes and standard methodologies.
  • Ability to design quantitative experiments, capture data, and analyze and present results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with batch job/cloud execution environments.
  • Experience with SQL and database configuration and operation.
  • Knowledge of hardware design verification tool configuration and operation.
  • Knowledge of hardware design verification methodologies.
