About the position

As a SOC Design and Integration Engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in the design and integration of System on Chip (SOC) technologies. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks that are essential for the successful development of SOCs. You will be involved in writing microarchitecture and design specifications, which are foundational to the chip development process. Your expertise will be critical in designing, implementing, and debugging complex logic designs, ensuring that the final product meets the high standards expected at Apple. In addition to design tasks, you will integrate complex Intellectual Properties (IPs) into the SOC, which requires a deep understanding of various components and how they interact within the system. You will support all front-end integration activities, including Lint, Clock Domain Crossing (CDC), synthesis, and Engineering Change Orders (ECO). Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with other engineers from the SOC Design, SOC Design Verification, Emulation, Static Timing Analysis (STA), and Physical Design teams to ensure a seamless integration process. Moreover, you will collaborate with software and systems teams to guarantee that the end product is of the highest quality, meeting both functional and performance requirements. Responsibilities

  • Write microarchitecture and/or design specifications
  • Design, implement, and debug complex logic designs
  • Integrate complex IPs into the SOC
  • Support all front end integration activities like Lint, CDC, Synthesis, and ECO
  • Collaborate with other engineers in SOC Design, SOC Design Verification, Emulation, STA, and Physical Design teams
  • Work with software and systems teams to ensure a high quality end product

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in all aspects of the chip development process
  • Proficiency in front end tools and methodologies
  • Experience writing specifications and converting them to design
  • Experience with multiple clock domains and asynchronous interfaces
  • Knowledge of system architecture, CPU & IP Integration, and power and clock management designs is desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all internal groups
  • Familiarity with software and operating concepts is a plus
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Perl, Python, or Tcl is a plus
