About the position

The SoC Modeling Engineering Team Lead at Annapurna Labs, AWS, is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the development of functional and performance models for custom silicon chips used in machine learning accelerators. This role involves charting the technical direction for the modeling team, managing a small team, and collaborating with various internal teams to innovate and improve modeling tools and infrastructure. The position requires expertise in performance modeling and proficiency in C++ programming, with a focus on delivering high-quality models that support AWS's cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

• Chart the technical direction for the modeling team
• Build and manage a small team of 3-5 modeling engineers
• Develop and own functional and performance models end-to-end
• Drive model and modeling infrastructure performance improvements
• Work closely with architecture, RTL design, design-verification, emulation, and software teams
• Innovate on the tooling provided to customers
• Develop maintainable, documented, tested, and reusable software

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional experience writing functional or performance models
• Experience programming with C++
• Familiarity with SoC, CPU, GPU, and/or ASIC architecture and micro-architecture

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• Experience developing and calibrating performance models for custom silicon chips
• Experience with writing benchmarks and analyzing performance
• Experience with PyTest and GoogleTest
• Familiarity with modern C++ (11, 14, etc.)
• Experience in multi-threaded programming, vector extensions, HPC, and QEMU
• Experience with machine learning accelerator hardware and/or software
