About the position

The SoC Performance Architect at Samsung is responsible for driving the modeling and analysis of new System on Chip (SoC) architectures and features for next-generation mobile products. This role involves building complex performance models and evaluating new features and use cases, particularly in the context of high-performance computing devices. The architect will work collaboratively across teams to optimize critical use cases, leveraging a data-driven approach to influence architectural proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the modeling and analysis of new SoC architectures and features for mobile products.
  • Build and develop complex SoC performance models including CPU, GPU, ISP, and NPU.
  • Perform high-level performance modeling and analysis of hardware features, applications, benchmarks, and complex use cases.
  • Analyze the impact of system-level architectural trade-offs including CPU, GPU, NPU, ISP, memory subsystems, and system software.
  • Leverage a data-driven approach to drive consensus around complex architectural proposals.
  • Work with teams to identify, analyze, and optimize critical complex use cases including gaming and camera applications.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 8+ years with a Master's Degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
  • Experience in architectural modeling and performance analysis with analytical models or cycle-accurate simulators.
  • Ability to model SoC architectures to analyze end-to-end performance on workloads of interest; experience with gem5 desired.
  • Excellent software development skills with ability to code in C, C++, Python, and similar programming languages.
  • Ability to integrate internal/external IP models on a full system-level framework.
  • Knowledge of Arm Architecture and Memory subsystem design including caches, interconnects, and memory controllers.
  • Knowledge of high performance, high efficiency design.
  • Experience with CPU, GPU, Accelerators, or Memory systems microarchitecture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
