About the position

At Apple, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Physical Design team. This role is pivotal in the design effort, where you will collaborate closely with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams. Your contributions will have a critical impact on delivering best-in-class designs that are synonymous with Apple’s commitment to innovation and excellence. You will be involved in the early stages of the design cycle, working with the logic design team to understand partition architecture and drive the physical aspects of the design. This position offers a unique opportunity to be at the center of the design process, ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed industry standards. Your responsibilities will include completing the netlist to GDS2 implementation for designated partitions while adhering to project schedules and design goals. You will also be responsible for conducting timing, physical, and electrical verification, driving the signoff closure for the partitions. In this role, you will have the chance to resolve and improve design and flow issues related to physical design, identifying potential solutions and driving their execution. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the logic design team to understand partition architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
  • Complete netlist to GDS2 implementation for partition(s) while meeting schedule and design goals.
  • Conduct timing, physical, and electrical verification, driving the signoff closure for the partitions.
  • Resolve and improve design and flow issues related to physical design, identifying potential solutions and driving execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS in a relevant field.
  • Previous internship/co-op, project work, or relevant coursework in computer architecture, VLSI, design, logic design, or circuit design.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple functional teams across a variety of fields.
  • Experience with Verilog, VHDL, Python, Perl, Tcl, and/or Spice is beneficial.
