The Soc/Clin Research Assistant position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a full-time role within the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The primary purpose of this position is to work directly with investigators and other research personnel to initiate and execute the Southern Liver Health Study (STRIVE), a multi-site study focused on researching environmental exposures that contribute to liver cancer. This role involves direct patient interaction with both cirrhotic and healthy volunteer populations, making it essential for the assistant to work closely in the clinic with physicians, study investigators, and other study staff. As an integral member of the LCCC population-based research team, the Clinical Research Assistant will perform a variety of duties to ensure the successful execution of the research project. Responsibilities include recruiting participants in the clinic, administering informed consent, collecting study-related data and biological/environmental samples, and maintaining confidential electronic and paper project files. The assistant will also be responsible for completing follow-ups with participants through various means, processing and managing specimens collected for the study, and transporting specimens from the clinic to the lab. The role may also involve performing other duties incidental to research activities as assigned.
