About the position

The Social/Family Worker Trainee position within the Morris County Sheriff's Community Outreach and Planning Section is designed for individuals seeking to provide preventative and rehabilitative social services to clients and their families. This role involves both office and field work, focusing on assessing client needs, coordinating services, and facilitating referrals to appropriate service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to assess client's problems.
  • Discuss and evaluate client's needs.
  • Refer and coordinate clients to other service units for specialized or long-term services.
  • Refer clients to appropriate service providers for medical care, treatment, substance abuse rehabilitation, housing, employment, training, counseling, etc.
  • Follow-up with clients and/or service providers to evaluate progress.
  • Coordinate client services and outreach with Morris County Sheriff's Office staff and various providers.
  • Gather and analyze information.
  • Evaluate and identify client needs and provide recommendations for services.
  • Maintain essential records and files.
  • Attend client and provider site visits.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships.
  • Prepare reports and documents, and perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Possession of a driver's license valid in New Jersey if operating a vehicle is necessary for essential duties.
