Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with beneficiaries to gather and verify information regarding eligibility for Social Security benefits.
• Make critical decisions on the amount of benefits paid to individuals based on gathered evidence.
• Resolve discrepancies and clarify issues related to initial and post-entitlement benefits.
• Adjudicate and authorize entitlement or disallowance actions for various Social Security programs.
• Utilize advanced computer technology to access and update claims information.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Proof of ICTAP or Military Spouse eligibility required.
• 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level, related to claims processing or Social Security benefits.
• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, or LL.M.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in customer service or public interaction.
• Familiarity with Social Security Administration policies and procedures.
