About the position

The Social Insurance Specialist (Claims Technical Expert) is responsible for developing and adjudicating complex Title II and Title XVI cases, focusing on public fraud issues in specific claims and post-entitlement cases. This role includes providing technical training and mentoring to other employees, ensuring high-quality service delivery in a part-time, temporary capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and adjudicate complex Title II and Title XVI cases.
  • Address public fraud issues in specific claims and post-entitlement cases.
  • Provide technical training and mentoring to other employees.
  • Conduct quality control functions in reviewing caseloads.
  • Evaluate benefit programs to assess integrity and quality of operations.

Requirements

  • 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent.
  • Experience in adjudicating, authorizing, investigating, or reconsidering claims.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and evaluate to draw accurate conclusions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in training, coaching, and mentoring others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SSA programs, laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
