Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas, engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters. BAM is seeking a Social Media & Community Manager! This position is crucial to the strategic growth of BAM and will work closely with our Chief Brand Officer, Head of Communications, and Marketing Director to maintain and enhance BAM's adventurous brand ethos through conceptualization, design, and production of a broad range of social media assets and deliverables. As the Social Media & Community Manager at BAM, the ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying our brand presence across social media platforms. In addition, they will be responsible for cultivating a dynamic community, driving engagement, and creating meaningful connections with our diverse audience.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with our Chief Brand Officer and communications team to inform the evolution and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with BAM's brand identity and marketing goals.
• Help lead and implement our overall social media calendar and platform positioning based on our social media strategy.
• Partner with creative, communications, and marketing teams to conceptualize, create, and deliver compelling and shareable content for various social media channels, ensuring alignment with brand values.
• Foster a strong sense of community among BAM's enthusiasts, encouraging interaction, user-generated content, and brand advocacy.
• Maintain and enhance BAM's brand voice across social media platforms, ensuring consistency and authenticity based on our brand positioning.
• Plan and execute social media campaigns, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve campaign objectives.
• Monitor social media channels for trends, conversations, and brand mentions, providing insights to inform strategy and brand reaction moments.
• Monitor social platforms and provide directions based on unexpected social events.
• Utilize data and analytics tools to measure the success of social media efforts, providing regular reports and insights for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a minimum of 3-5 years experience in brand communications/social media.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software and social applications (e.g., Photoshop, Canva).
• Ability to capture, edit, and post content effectively and efficiently.
• Ability to execute and pitch development ideas for bespoke/original social initiatives for tentpole BAM programming initiatives.
• A strong aesthetic sensibility and understanding of creative campaigns, advertising, branding, and social trends.
• Ability to visualize concepts quickly and cleanly, from inception through to development.
• Capable of both following and providing creative direction.
• Knowledge of BAM's Mission, Vision, and Values and ability to interpret and apply them in design thinking.
• Ability to accurately interpret a creative brief and adhere to deadlines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for creative concepts and ideas to internal and external peers.
• Proactive creative mindset and a deep passion for social media, communications, and creativity.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
