About the position

The Social Media and Marketing Coordinator at Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) plays a vital role in the Communications team, focusing on developing and executing strategies to enhance fundraising efforts, raise awareness, and engage the community. This position involves managing social media accounts, creating compelling content, and coordinating marketing campaigns to advocate for the well-being of children, families, and refugees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media and marketing strategies to raise funds and increase awareness.
  • Manage social media accounts and create engaging content across various platforms.
  • Coordinate campaigns to promote organizational services and advocate for clients.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing materials such as flyers and postcards.
  • Draft communications collateral including newsletters and blogs in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
  • Update and maintain the organization's website to ensure content accuracy.
  • Create materials for events, programs, and external partnerships.
  • Analyze and report on the impact of communications on organizational success.
  • Attend events for live coverage and maintain archives of media and publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, or public relations, preferably in nonprofit or child welfare sectors.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends with hands-on content creation experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for impactful messaging.
  • Experience with database/management systems like MuckRack or FireSpring.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of refugee services and child welfare issues.
  • Experience with fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with SEO and digital advertising strategies.
