About the position

The Social Media and Public Relations Manager at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is responsible for managing and executing public relations and social media strategies. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role focuses on content development, media relations, and building an engaged audience across social media platforms. The position requires a strong background in media relations, social media strategy, and content creation, and it allows for some remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and write press releases to generate media coverage.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase brand awareness and engagement.
  • Build and nurture relationships with journalists and influencers, coordinating interviews for media features.
  • Write engaging blog posts, social media updates, and newsletters, and assist with video production scripts.
  • Develop compelling stories that resonate with the audience and align with the brand's voice.
  • Produce internal and external newsletters to keep stakeholders informed and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Identify and collaborate with influencers to promote the brand and manage influencer marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor brand mentions and sentiment across social media and assist with branding reviews.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in PR, social media, or content development.
  • Digital fluency with social media platforms and analytics tools.
  • Photography and video skills, including editing capabilities.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to write, edit, and proofread content effectively.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Previous experience in marketing, communications, or web-based communications.
