About the position

The Social Media Assistant Manager will oversee the daily execution of match coverage across Tennis Channel and Tennis.com's social media platforms. This freelance role involves collaborating with social media coordinators to create engaging content that enhances live match coverage and storytelling around tennis. The position requires creativity, tennis knowledge, and editorial insight to grow the social media presence and captivate the audience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide match coverage content, ensuring accuracy and engagement while building resonant storylines.
  • Develop unique angles for match coverage, focusing on deeper tennis narratives such as rivalries and player progressions.
  • Collaborate with social media, production, and editorial teams to ensure seamless content flow highlighting upcoming storylines and match reactions.
  • Use match stats and historical context to create insightful social media content that offers commentary on match significance.
  • Assist in planning and executing social media coverage for tournaments, aligning content with brand strategy and objectives.
  • Optimize content for social platforms, ensuring relevance to conversations within the tennis community.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced social media environment focused on content creation, preferably in sports or entertainment.
  • Passion and knowledge of tennis, including players, tournaments, and match dynamics.
  • Extensive experience creating compelling digital media content across multiple social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, Reddit, and YouTube.
  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong news/content/editorial judgement with the ability to translate narratives into engaging social media content.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, online/multimedia, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of video editing and graphic design software.
