About the position

Book of the Month is seeking a creative and skilled content creator to support our organic social channels. This part-time, freelance position is based in New York City and offers the potential for conversion to full-time based on demonstrated consistent, exceptional performance. As a member of our team, you will be part of a passionate group dedicated to helping readers discover new books while promoting the careers of new and emerging authors. We are looking for someone who enjoys generating original, out-of-the-box content ideas and has the skills to produce them effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for creating engaging content that aligns with our brand, mission, and objectives. You will work with a variety of video and static imagery, transforming them into content assets tailored for different platforms and audiences. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with our creative and marketing teams to produce and manipulate video, photography, social copy, gifs, and short clips. You will lead a well-organized content program across our social channels and have the opportunity to expand into other content marketing channels over time. We are looking for someone who is comfortable and excited about ideating and pitching original ideas that resonate with a large audience, whether they are already familiar with the book world or not. You should have a strong interest in creating content on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts, and be able to conceptualize and produce a high volume of relevant and insightful content. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and embrace an iterative process while maintaining a proactive approach to content creation. This position offers an hourly range of $40 - $125, depending on experience and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging content aligned with the brand's mission and objectives to increase distribution.
  • Work with a variety of video and static imagery to produce content assets for individual platforms and audiences.

  • Embrace an iterative process while servicing quick turnaround times and capturing trending moments.

Requirements

  • Experience creating and engaging on social media daily, with a proven ability to go viral on platforms like TikTok.
  • Strong skills in video producing, editing, and social media copywriting.
  • Ability to conceptualize and create a high volume of relevant and insightful content.
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for making creative content on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
