About the position

The Social Media & Digital Content Strategist at Lenoir-Rhyne University is responsible for enhancing the university's digital communications and marketing efforts. This role focuses on maximizing content delivery across various digital platforms, ensuring alignment with institutional branding and marketing goals. The strategist will leverage their expertise in SEO, content strategy, and social media to create engaging content that resonates with the target audience while also providing training and guidance to faculty and staff on best practices in digital content management.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize the impact of content delivery across digital channels including websites, social media, email, and digital advertising.
  • Write, proofread, edit, and fact-check content to ensure adherence to institutional branding and style.
  • Assist in developing and implementing multimedia recruitment and fundraising tools.
  • Review website content submission requests and make daily site updates.
  • Select, retouch, resize, and optimize photos while ensuring SEO and accessibility.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot website issues, escalating as necessary.
  • Co-manage and provide editorial guidance for university social media, training on best practices.
  • Train faculty, staff, and freelancers on content management systems and writing for the web.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on website content to identify and address issues.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and content performance metrics to inform strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of full-time professional work experience in higher education, nonprofit, or agency setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading with mastery of grammar and AP Style.
  • Proficiency in creating engaging web content and moving it from concept to implementation with minimal oversight.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of web content best practices, including information architecture and responsive design.
  • Experience with multi-channel digital campaigns including SEO and paid search.
  • Digital advertising experience with a strong understanding of online marketing concepts.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
  • Experience with Drupal, WordPress, and web content management systems; knowledge of HTML and CSS is desirable.
  • Experience using Google Analytics or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience creating multimedia content, including video and audio.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital advertising or paid search marketing.
  • Knowledge of web usability and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
