About the position

VIZ Media is seeking a Social Media Manager, Brand to lead the social media strategy and daily operations for its franchise brands across various platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. This role is crucial in crafting and executing social campaigns that align with brand guidelines while leveraging current trends to foster brand growth and expansion. The Social Media Manager will collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams, including Product Marketing, Community, Publishing, and PR, to ensure the delivery of high-quality content and effective outcomes for the brands. The position requires a proactive approach, as the manager will serve as the public voice of VIZ Media on social media, necessitating adherence to the VIZ brand voice and a strong understanding of social media trends. In this role, the Social Media Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the Brand team's priorities. This includes creating a detailed social media calendar, leading content creation, and guiding the creative direction of campaigns. The manager will optimize and evaluate campaigns, produce performance reports, and work closely with internal creative teams and external agencies to ensure on-brand content that supports product marketing initiatives. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for managing paid social media campaigns, preparing reports for executives, and supervising community engagement to foster a loyal fan base. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in social media, preferably within the entertainment or media industries, and a proven track record of executing successful social media strategies. They should be adept at using analytics to inform content strategies and possess strong copywriting skills. The role requires familiarity with major social media platforms and the ability to adapt content to meet specific marketing goals. Candidates should also be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and willing to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends, to meet the demands of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement social media strategy for key VIZ brands, driving overall objectives, strategies, reporting, and measurement in alignment with Brand team's key priorities.
  • Create a comprehensive social media calendar ensuring strategic content distribution across all platforms in partnership with VIZ brand channels.
  • Lead content creation and guide creative direction, including producing videos, selecting images, and drafting post copy to improve performance based on audience insights.
  • Optimize and evaluate campaigns, launches, and new tactics, producing regular reports detailing performance metrics to inform and improve social media strategy.
  • Act as a primary liaison with internal Creative teams and external agencies to oversee campaign executions and create compelling content that fosters fandom.
  • Build Go-To-Market social media strategies for new Brand launches and grow brand pages alongside internal Social teams or external agencies.
  • Continuously develop and stay up-to-date on social media best practices across platforms and share feedback with fellow team members.
  • Manage paid social media campaigns for key brands and region-specific programs as necessary.
  • Support communications between Brand, Product Marketing, Social Media, and Content to ensure impactful content launches through organic social marketing tactics.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for executives and stakeholders on social media programs regularly.
  • Supervise community responses and commentary, serving as the voice of the brands and engaging with fans.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in social media, preferably in entertainment, media, or related industries.
  • Prior experience in building and executing social media strategies, creating content independently or with agencies, and supervising content production.
  • Proven success in leading creative social media campaigns for major entertainment brands and growing branded social media channels.
  • Experience with major social media platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, and best practices for tailoring content by platform.
  • Strengths with social media publishing platforms for scheduling, moderation, and reporting.
  • Experience managing and collaborating with internal creative resources and external marketing agencies.
  • Proficient in using analytics via social platforms or social analytic tools to iterate on campaign performance.
  • Previous experience with interpreting and following brand guidelines and style guides precisely.
  • Knowledge of internet culture, content trends, and social media best practices, particularly in anime or adjacent fandom communities.
  • Video content development experience with a strong vision.

  • Superior copywriting skills and the ability to communicate clearly to target audiences.
  • Experience using analytics and data to support rapid growth with social media organic and paid strategies.
  • Experience with social analytics tools and social listening tools.
  • Proficiency with Mac operating systems and standard productivity programs such as Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using project management tools like Wrike, Trello, Asana, and Slack.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with video production processes and video editing software like Adobe Premiere.
