About the position

Culture Media is seeking a remote Social Media Manager to assist in the creation, editing, and publication of digital and print content. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Content Director to ensure that our online platforms deliver engaging and high-quality content to our audience. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for cheese and digital media, excellent writing skills, and a keen eye for detail. As a Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for managing Culture's social media calendar, curating a mix of original content, repurposed content, and paid placements to engage and grow our audience. You will also curate and send weekly newsletters aimed at both trade and consumer audiences. Writing is a key component of this role, as you will be expected to write one story per week for our website and contribute to our quarterly print magazine. Additionally, you will prepare and upload content to various digital platforms, ensuring proper formatting and optimization for timely publication. Staying updated on industry trends, particularly in specialty food and cheese, is crucial. You will monitor traffic and engagement metrics using analytics tools to provide insights and recommendations for content optimization and audience growth. Quality control is also a significant part of your responsibilities, as you will perform regular checks to identify and rectify any issues with content formatting or technical errors, ensuring a seamless user experience for our audience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Culture's social media calendar, curating a mix of original and repurposed content, as well as paid placements.
  • Curate and send weekly trade and consumer-facing newsletters.
  • Write one story per week for Culture's website and contribute to the quarterly print magazine.
  • Prepare and upload content to various digital platforms, ensuring proper formatting and optimization.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, digital best practices, and emerging technologies to contribute fresh ideas.
  • Monitor traffic, engagement metrics, and social media analytics to provide insights for content optimization.
  • Perform regular quality checks to identify and rectify issues with content formatting and technical errors.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in journalism, social media, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in digital content creation, editing, and publishing, preferably in an editorial or media environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of grammar and AP Style guidelines.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices for content optimization.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and their usage for content distribution.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of current trends in digital media, social media, and online publishing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the cheese industry is preferred, but not required.
