About the position

Away is a global lifestyle brand with a mission to transform travel through products and content that inspire people to get away more. In support of our mission, we are seeking a Social Media Manager to join our Marketing team. The ideal candidate is a highly strategic and creative storyteller who's excited to push the boundaries of social innovation through an ownable strategy, culture-first creative, and community-centric content. You have a clear vision and POV for what makes social, social — and have an innate understanding of content that grows our cultural awareness, engages consumers, and impacts sales. Day-to-day, you'll manage the operations of our owned social channels: planning the social calendar, managing the creative and copy (inclusive of campaign briefing, asset tracking from internal and external creative resources, creating content yourself), scheduling posts, tracking trends, and channel reporting. This role will also work cross-functionally to develop social- and community-first content across influencer, paid social, and other digital channels. This role reports into the Director of Social and Community as a part of the Brand Marketing team and will require a weekly in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Responsibilities

  • Engage our community and bring the Away brand to life on social.
  • Manage our social calendar and strategy, continuously evolving and innovating on our brand storytelling and personality.
  • Ideate, execute, and deliver best-in-class creative and copy, translated across existing and emerging social channels.
  • Stay on the cusp of social and cultural trends, with a specific focus on TikTok; identify and create first-to-market content that positions Away as a cultural leader.
  • Leverage our data to track, measure, and report on growth, reach, and engagement metrics to guide our overall platform strategy.
  • Champion social-first creative — lead social asset tracking and brief management for launches and campaigns, in close partnership with the creative team and across channels.
  • Tap into community feedback and consumer trends to plan, test, and launch disruptive social activations and initiatives.
  • Identify new platform opportunities and own the strategic development of content and community on those platforms.
  • Work closely with brand, partnerships and PR to execute on the product and brand calendar with a focus on omni-channel initiatives.
  • Partner with Senior Manager of Influencer and Advocacy to strategically leverage creator content in cohesion with owned content.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in social media strategy, content creation, and community management.
  • Experience in social media marketing, community management, influencer marketing, and/or communications required.
  • Demonstrated ability to create social-first photo, video, and/or graphic content in creative, innovative, and unexpected ways.
  • A deep understanding of social platforms, the broader digital landscape, and the unique strategies, audiences, and nuances across each.
  • Experience with social analytics, data management, and tracking tools (platform-native insights, Dash Hudson, Emplifi, and others).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with a keen attention to detail; you are equal parts excellent at writing a witty caption, a creative brief, and a pitch deck.
  • You're comfortable (and excited about) being both in front of and behind the camera.
  • Highly collaborative — you love to work as a team to solve problems, but can thrive when faced with an individual task.
  • Possess an elevated taste level and strong aesthetic judgment; you can convey and execute a vision while maintaining and elevating brand standards.
  • You define your path — strategic thinking and problem solving is where you thrive.
