About the position

The Social Media Manager at National Geographic is responsible for overseeing growth strategies across the organization's social media platforms. This role involves collaborating with various teams to create impactful social content and campaigns aimed at driving engagement, revenue, and subscriber growth. The manager will serve as a key point of contact for multiple business lines, focusing on campaign ideation, process development, and insights reporting while optimizing the brand's editorial and organic social strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue growth, engagement, and subscriber acquisition across National Geographic's social media accounts.
  • Develop and manage the affiliate marketing strategy and program across social platforms.
  • Develop a strategy and framework for consumer product marketing across the Nat Geo Social ecosystem.
  • Set revenue and growth targets for key social platforms and track progress quarterly.
  • Collaborate on social sponsorship campaigns and paid media efforts to increase revenue.
  • Manage social publishing and overall platform strategies for multiple platforms.
  • Embed with editorial teams to provide social perspective and best practices for content.
  • Manage creative development of ecommerce social content and secure final approvals.
  • Lead and develop creative social media campaigns for special projects and marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and own team goals and performance metrics for driving revenue from social platforms.
  • Monitor performance regularly to understand effectiveness of strategy and content.
  • Craft actionable insights and recommendations to optimize content strategy and user experience.
  • Support finance teams with revenue forecasting and reporting requests.
  • Audit and update best practices documents as the industry evolves.
  • Partner with social platforms to identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Foster relationships with key internal stakeholders across Nat Geo and Disney.
  • Articulate social media best practices and trends to teams as a subject matter expert.
  • Lead trainings and respond to inquiries about revenue opportunities.
  • Advise marketing teams on managing influencer campaigns.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of social media experience in media, entertainment, or marketing with a focus on lead acquisition, subscription growth, or ecommerce/affiliate marketing.
  • Effective communication skills in both verbal and written form, with creative writing skills.
  • Experience using analytics tools to identify trends and provide recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Keynote, Google Suite, and project management tools like AirTable and Asana.
  • Proven track record in driving sales, lead acquisition, or subscription growth.
  • Familiarity with ecommerce and affiliate marketing platforms and social media.
  • Creative, proactive, and independent thinking with attention to detail.
