About the position

The Social Media Manager at Weigel Broadcasting Co. will lead the social media platforms for ABC57 in South Bend, Indiana. This role involves creating engaging content, driving innovation in digital video production, and collaborating with the newsroom and marketing teams to enhance audience engagement and brand awareness. The manager will also be responsible for analyzing metrics and optimizing content across various digital channels.

Responsibilities

• Work with the newsroom to identify engaging content and determine the best format for posting.
• Creatively develop unique content and project ideas for mobile, web, and social media platforms.
• Drive innovation in digital video production for ABC57.
• Participate in daily editorial decision-making as a member of the news management team.
• Collaborate with the News Director to develop strategies for breaking news and daily coverage.
• Leverage social networks to engage the audience and build brand awareness.
• Work closely with marketing to grow customer interaction on social media.
• Interface with corporate digital management on content initiatives.
• Direct staff on best practices for optimizing content on mobile and desktop sites.
• Communicate digital growth metrics to the News Director and GM.

Requirements

• Proficient knowledge of social media platforms.
• Strong writing skills and keen editorial judgment.
• Ability to handle breaking news effectively.
• Experience with broadcast technology is a plus.
• Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently.
