About the position

Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is experiencing industry-leading growth and was recently recognized by Entrepreneur as the “#1 Best Sports Bar Franchise.” With an arsenal of brand attributes and touchpoints - 80+ locations, from-scratch menu rooted in Cajun cuisine, sports on lots of TVs, and superstar owners and franchisees - the brand aims to take day-to-day consumer engagement to a new dynamic level with an enhanced social media presence. This position will lead the ideation, planning, creation, and execution of social media engagement via custom, fun, and engaging content coupled with real-time listening and response across all Walk-On's social platforms to build brand affinity with current and potential guests and establish Walk-On's as a juggernaut in the social space. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and charismatic social media rock-star with an instinct to turn everyday moments into compelling, sports-relevant, and engaging brand stories. Someone who embodies the definition of a “walk-on” who shows perseverance, drive, and willingness to take risks. The perfect candidate will eat, sleep, and breathe Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, constantly scouring the social landscape for content opportunities across sports, the restaurant industry, pop culture, and trending topics.

Responsibilities

  • Create fun, head-turning, engaging and relevant content for all brand platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) that engages fans, drives traffic to both digital properties and restaurant locations, stimulates follower/fan growth, drives brand buzz across earned and social media and builds overall brand affinity with current and potential guests.
  • Monitor the daily social conversation and cultural heatmap surrounding two key brand pillars - sports (with an eye for the underdog story) and great food.
  • Develop strong relationships with influencer partners that are true to the spirit and brand of Walk-On's and execute campaigns with influencers that support the marketing calendar.
  • Work with the marketing leadership team and agency partners on social media strategy, tone and brand guardrails.
  • Demonstrate creativity in presenting the brand in social media while being ever mindful of internal and external sensitivities.
  • Work with peers in the marketing department to highlight brand campaigns, special projects and other marketing calendar priorities through social media.
  • Work with other departments in a coordinated effort to execute social campaigns.
  • Work with agencies to ideate, execute and bring to life social ideas, activations and campaigns.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of social media trends and tools.

Requirements

  • Preferably have a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, digital media, broadcasting, marketing, creative writing, or related majors.
  • 2-5 years of experience in digital or social media with brand or sports team/league experience, including copywriting and video editing.
  • Graphic design skills (using Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools to create graphics as needed).
  • Video editing skills (knowledge using Premiere Pro or similar tools to create social videos).
  • Outstanding communication, writing, proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make reasoned judgments in a timely fashion within a very subjective medium.
  • Passion for sports, sports viewing and sports data with an affinity for following big games and moments across the sports calendar.
  • Availability and willingness to engage on nights and weekends if sports or events dictate.
  • Ability to deliver quality work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly curious, always looking to learn and stay ahead of trends.
