About the position

The Sr. Social Media Strategist will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the social media strategy for JD North America. This position is designed for a creative and strategic thinker who can drive engagement and brand awareness across various social media platforms. The strategist will work closely with brand, creative, and cultural partnerships to develop innovative ideas that resonate with the JD audience, particularly in the realms of fashion, sport, and music. The role requires a deep understanding of social media trends and the ability to translate these trends into actionable strategies that align with the company's goals. In this position, the Sr. Social Media Strategist will be responsible for developing and executing an owned content strategy across priority platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. They will serve as the day-to-day point of contact with channel representatives for Organic Social, including Meta and TikTok, and will utilize social media management tools like Brandwatch to optimize performance. The strategist will also collaborate with various teams, including Brand Managers, Loyalty, Integrated Marketing, SEO, and Creative, to ensure that key campaign moments are effectively executed across social media channels. The role involves tracking, reporting, and analyzing social media content initiatives on a monthly basis, as well as assisting in the planning of a monthly editorial calendar for all JD-owned social channels. The strategist will provide insights into channel best practices and adjust strategies as necessary to enhance engagement. Additionally, they will monitor customer interactions with JD and Finish Line social channels, participating in conversations to foster community engagement. The strategist will also keep an eye on external blogs, social networking sites, and competitors' activities, engaging in discussions as needed. This position may also involve additional duties and projects as required, making it a dynamic and multifaceted role.

Responsibilities

  • Drive social media strategy, ideation, and execution across platforms.
  • Lead the social strategy for JD North America, focusing on cultural positioning.
  • Develop and execute owned content strategy across priority platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook).
  • Stay updated on current social trends and translate them for the JD audience.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact with channel representatives for Organic Social and Brandwatch.
  • Collaborate with Brand Managers, Loyalty, Integrated Marketing, SEO, and Creative to execute key campaigns.
  • Lead the planning, editing, and management of the JD blog.
  • Track, report, and analyze social media content initiatives monthly.
  • Assist in monthly editorial calendar planning across all JD owned social channels.
  • Provide insights into channel best practices and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Monitor customer interactions with JD and Finish Line social channels to drive engagement.
  • Monitor external blogs, social networking sites, and competitors' activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • 3-5 years' experience in marketing, preferably in social media.
  • Past management experience is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of social trends, best practices, and analytics.
  • Experience with Brandwatch and Google Suite preferred.
