About the position

Chromatic Black is seeking a dynamic and passionate Social Media Manager to join our collective of artist activists. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our mission to disrupt the master narrative through impactful storytelling. You will work collaboratively across a spectrum of artistic disciplines, leading efforts to reclaim STORY as a public common. This position reports to the Digital Strategist and focuses on managing the Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn platforms. As a Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with Chromatic Black's mission. You will drive initiatives to disrupt conventional narratives and promote the collective's work across various platforms. Your role will involve creating visually engaging and thought-provoking content that resonates with our audience, as well as curating and showcasing the work of artist activists within the collective to amplify the impact of storytelling. You will manage day-to-day operations on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, implementing best practices for each platform to optimize reach, engagement, and overall performance. Additionally, you will lead the execution of monthly campaigns, including Black History Month, Women's Month, and the Age-Free Living With Dignity Campaign, collaborating with artists, activists, and organizations to amplify campaign messages. Fostering a sense of community by actively engaging with the audience, responding to comments, and encouraging participation will also be key aspects of your role. Furthermore, you will identify and explore collaboration opportunities with like-minded organizations, influencers, and artists, managing relationships and coordinating joint projects that support the disruption of narratives. Regularly analyzing social media performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for optimization, and generating reports highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement will be essential to your success. Staying informed about emerging trends in social media, storytelling, and activism will allow you to propose and implement innovative initiatives to keep Chromatic Black at the forefront of social engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager with a focus on storytelling and activism.
  • Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for disrupting narratives through storytelling.
  • Experience in managing social media campaigns, including collaboration with diverse artists and activists.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and the ability to derive actionable insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a collective of artists and activists.
