About the position

As a Social Media Manager at BNY Mellon, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the brand's organic social strategy across various platforms. This position is part of the Content Strategy & Channel Execution team within Global Marketing & Communications, and it is based in New York, NY, with a hybrid work arrangement. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the development and execution of social media initiatives that align with the brand's cultural and strategic goals. You will work cross-functionally to identify and develop organic content opportunities that resonate with our audience and enhance brand visibility. In this role, you will take ownership of organic reporting and analytics, tracking performance against established goals and utilizing data to inform strategies for brand growth on social media. You will manage the content calendar, ensuring that all deadlines and deliverables are met while adhering to internal and external approval processes, including compliance and regulatory requirements. As the source of truth for social media best practices and industry trends, you will drive the adoption of innovative strategies and solutions across the organization. Additionally, you will provide consultation to various teams within the organization, helping them understand how social media can positively impact business objectives. Your ability to manage multiple priorities, plan ahead, and create a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment will be crucial to your success in this role. You will also need to demonstrate a deep understanding of audience behavior across social channels and possess a strong mix of creative, analytical, and communication skills to translate complex concepts into compelling content.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and execution of the brand's organic social strategy across platforms.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify, develop, and execute on organic content opportunities that align culturally and strategically with the brand.
  • Take ownership of organic reporting and analytics to track against goals and use data to drive brand growth on social media.
  • Manage the content calendar and planning for the brand, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are tracked and met.
  • Act as the source of truth for social media and platform best practices, industry trends, and drive adoption of innovative strategies and solutions.
  • Adhere to internal and external approval processes, compliance, legal, audit, and regulatory processes and documentation.
  • Support the governance framework for social media across the organization.
  • Provide consultation to social media, communications, and marketing team members throughout the organization.
  • Connect the dots of where social can provide positive impact to the business.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of social media experience in a large organization or major agency setting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to plan ahead while creating a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.
  • Deep understanding of audience behavior across social channels.
  • Strong mix of creative, analytic, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling content.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise social management tools such as Sprinklr, Sprout, Meltwater, etc.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with knowledge of how content should vary by channel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Workfront preferred.
  • Experience in financial services or regulated industry is a plus.
  • Experience managing a team is a plus.
