About the position

The Social Media Manager at the CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health (ISPH) is responsible for developing and executing the institute's social media strategy to enhance engagement and reach among key audiences. This role involves managing social media platforms, creating compelling content, and collaborating with researchers and stakeholders to promote the institute's mission and research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Institute's social media strategy and engagement across all platforms.
  • Establish a strong understanding of ISPH's mission and research activities.
  • Meet regularly with the Executive Director and Associate Director to set social media priorities.
  • Communicate with ISPH investigators to monitor their work-related social media handles.
  • Develop and maintain posting guidelines and brand style guide for social media channels.
  • Create and execute on-brand social media posts to communicate ISPH's mission and projects.
  • Build audience and engagement from key stakeholders including thought leaders and public officials.
  • Follow peers and potential funders on social media, cross-promoting and amplifying messages.
  • Contribute to ISPH meetings and newsletters to support social media participation.
  • Collect, analyze, and share social media metrics regularly.
  • Post new publications and projects to the ISPH website and write press releases as necessary.
  • Perform website maintenance and enhancements as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in academic science communication, preferably in public health
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with urgency and timeliness
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter/X
  • Knowledge of current trends in social media
  • Ability to use analytics to evaluate campaigns and design strategy
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Canva, WordPress, and MailChimp

Nice-to-haves
