About the position

WTTW/Chicago PBS and WFMT/Chicago Classical are seeking an experienced Social Media and Marketing Manager to enhance audience engagement through strategic content development across social media and other marketing channels. This role involves collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and leading initiatives to explore and expand into new and emerging platforms. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing social media content and engagement initiatives, contributing to the overall social media strategy aimed at driving exposure, audience awareness, and excitement. The ultimate goal is to increase the social audience, engagement, and digital traffic for WTTW and WFMT. The successful candidate will develop and execute proactive and strategic marketing plans across various channels, including paid, trade, earned, and owned media, to boost audience engagement, brand recognition, and loyalty. This role requires leading social content planning and production across multiple platforms, employing a creative approach to storytelling tailored for each social media outlet. The manager will also be responsible for producing various assets such as copy, images, videos, GIFs, and graphics, while managing a calendar of both pre-planned and opportunistic content. Additionally, the Social Media Manager will create and evaluate metrics, developing dashboards to monitor audience and engagement growth, measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, and demonstrate program success. Identifying and managing new strategic partnerships to leverage for audience growth and brand awareness is also a key responsibility. The role includes developing social media guidelines to educate stakeholders on best practices and effective engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of digital or social media marketing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.
  • Experience analyzing data collected from analytics tools such as CrowdTangle.
  • Excellent persuasive written and oral communication skills.
  • Tactical understanding of all media platforms and experience integrating varied marketing channels into strategy.
  • Expert familiarity with digital advertising and social media with a track record of driving growth.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and collaborative.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience capturing and editing photo, video, and audio content.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, persistently, and in a fast-paced manner.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Successful track record in managing social media accounts.
  • Experience with business, strategy, and campaign development and tracking.
  • Demonstrated understanding of social media design/content best practices and algorithms.
