About the position

The purpose of this position is to advance the prominence of Kansas State University and support strategic plan goals by communicating stories, news, and information about the university to a wide range of audiences. This position is responsible for developing content across all social and digital media platforms and for writing content for distribution through a wide range of methods. It requires close collaboration with all units within the Division of Communications and Marketing and other areas of the university to ensure coordination and overall consistency in voice and message. The Social Media Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the university's online presence and engagement with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, and the general public. This role is essential in crafting the narrative of the university and ensuring that its achievements and initiatives are effectively communicated to the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage content across all social and digital media platforms.
• Write and distribute content through various methods to reach a wide audience.
• Collaborate with all units within the Division of Communications and Marketing to ensure message consistency.
• Enhance the university's online presence and engagement with stakeholders.
• Create social media content, including videos, photos, and graphics.
• Lead and execute social media strategy for the university.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 3 years of relevant experience in social media management.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, English, or similar.
• 3-5 years of experience creating and executing social media strategy.
• Professional experience in public relations, marketing, and/or journalism.
• Experience in writing for web, social media, and other news outlets.
• Demonstrated skills in photography and video production.
• Basic knowledge of paid social media marketing.
