About the position

The Social Media Manager at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) will oversee and enhance the social media presence for the institution's brands. This role involves developing strategies to meet performance goals through data-driven planning, content management, and engagement. The manager will lead a team of coordinators and collaborate with various departments to ensure cohesive communication and marketing efforts across all social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement digital brand awareness campaigns.
  • Manage and lead a team of two coordinators.
  • Analyze customer expectations based on past social media activity.
  • Consult on best practices and social media strategies for departments managing their own channels.
  • Develop social campaigns for research clinical trials.
  • Manage the master list of log-in information for department social media accounts.
  • Create a content strategy for organic social media and prioritize stories for boosting.
  • Develop a content calendar aligned with enterprise messaging and national observance days.
  • Create and manage paid and organic social media campaigns.
  • Build relationships with media and social media influencers.
  • Define performance metrics and benchmark goals for social media, tracking KPIs and actions to meet targets.
  • Update social media content across all channels and engage with followers.
  • Monitor campaigns, analyze data, and assess SEO and web traffic metrics.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including senior management and creative teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, digital marketing, internet marketing, communications, journalism, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7 years of progressive work experience in social media management or a similar role.
  • 2 years of management experience.
  • Experience in creating social media strategies and campaigns.
  • Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to craft engaging content and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in marketing, digital marketing, internet marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Prior experience as a copywriter.
  • Prior experience as a content manager.
  • Knowledge of best practices for advertising platforms such as Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
