About the position

The Social Media Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing and promotional strategy that aligns with the Tryon Palace brand. This role involves managing social media platforms, coordinating digital advertising, and creating engaging content to inform and engage the public about Tryon Palace events and history. The position requires occasional weekend and evening work.

Responsibilities

  • Managing social media on various platforms, including updates on calendars, engagements, and informational and promotional content.
  • Coordinating digital advertising to support overall marketing and promotional strategy, including tracking ad performance across multiple platforms.
  • Maintaining the email marketing program (Constant Contact) with accurate contact listings and assisting with content writing for the monthly newsletter.
  • Providing monthly social media and demographic statistics to assess engagement and reach.
  • Submitting invoices for payment accurately and tracking expenses in the budget.
  • Providing photography and videography needs for Tryon Palace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, English, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital technology used across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and/or X).
  • Experience in professionally writing and/or editing copy for informational and promotional content.
  • Proficiency in using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience with marketing, promotions, and/or advertising strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Digital Marketing.
  • Experience in public affairs.
  • Working experience with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, and InDesign.
  • Experience editing video using Final Cut Pro.
  • Experience marketing a museum, historic site, or tourism destination on social media.
  • Experience using digital cameras and video production equipment.
