About the position

As the Social Media Senior Manager at Quizlet, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our global social media strategy. This position is designed for an expert in social media who has a proven track record of building two-way relationships with key audiences through innovative strategies and authentic content. Your primary goal will be to elevate Quizlet's brand awareness and engagement, particularly among Gen Z students and their teachers, making Quizlet one of the most beloved brands on the Internet. You will lead a small team of creators, working collaboratively to develop and implement creative social media strategies across platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. In this role, you will not only set the strategic direction but also actively engage in content creation, posting multiple times a day, and writing compelling social media copy. You will create graphics, photos, and short videos, leveraging the support of our Brand Design team. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between the User Operations team to address user questions and issues on social media, ensuring a seamless customer service experience. Your responsibilities will also include community management, where you will engage with students in a humorous and relatable manner, and partner with our Marketing Analyst to measure the effectiveness of our marketing content. Regular performance updates will be provided to senior stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with our growth objectives. This hybrid role is based out of our New York office, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about social media and education, ready to push boundaries and set new standards for creative content and strategies. Your work will not only enhance Quizlet's presence on social media but also give students new reasons to love our brand every day.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a social media strategy that includes organic, paid, and influencer content to enhance brand awareness and loyalty.
  • Develop and implement creative social media strategies to increase engagement and reach on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Drive the vision and long-term growth of Quizlet's social media presence internationally, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voice.
  • Act as the face of Quizlet on social media, engaging with both teachers and students.
  • Post content on social platforms multiple times a day, ensuring timely and relevant engagement.
  • Write social media copy and edit posts daily to maintain a high standard of communication.
  • Create graphics, photos, short videos, and other engaging content with the support of the Brand Design team.
  • Act as a liaison between the User Operations team to identify user questions and issues on social media, assisting in managing the customer service experience.
  • Handle community management across channels, regularly posting and responding to student comments in a humorous style.
  • Partner with the Marketing Analyst to measure the effectiveness of marketing content and its correlation with overall user growth.
  • Provide regular performance and growth updates to senior stakeholders via summary decks.
  • Maintain awareness of the latest digital media updates, guidelines, and trends.
  • Manage paid influencer campaigns in coordination with external influencer agencies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a social media manager, ideally in a consumer-facing role or at a top-tier creative ad agency.
  • Paid media experience developing and implementing social-first ad campaigns, as well as creating organic content.
  • Experience directly managing a social media team.
  • Experience working with influencers, including negotiating rates and reviewing contract language with legal support.
  • A portfolio of past social media assets, including TikTok content relevant to online trends or current events.
  • A resume of contributions to past ad campaigns or brand moments that captured public attention based on seasonal timing or real-time trends.
  • Experience building assets in Canva, with design support available as needed.
  • Strength in storytelling across social media platforms.
  • Experience with reputation management and upholding brand guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Flawless written skills, with high attention to detail and grammatical accuracy.
  • A genuine interest in education and learning.
  • Experience with publishing and analytics tools such as Sprout Social.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building a brand from the US to other English-speaking markets (UK, AU).
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams.
  • Used Quizlet, currently or in the past, for personal studies.
