About the position
The Social Media Specialist for University Relations at the University of Northern Iowa is responsible for coordinating, creating, and posting original and engaging content across all university social media platforms. This role involves managing daily content, serving as a contact for official social media channels, monitoring and analyzing social media interactions, and providing regular metrics and reports to the University Relations team. The specialist will also evaluate emerging social media platforms and trends to enhance the university's online presence.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, create, and post original content across all UNI social media platforms.
- Manage day-to-day content using social media management tools.
- Serve as a contact for the official social media channels of the university.
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to social media content.
- Provide regular metrics and reports to the University Relations team.
- Evaluate emerging social media platforms and trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- At least one year of experience in social media, digital media, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working with a variety of social media platforms.
- Excellent writing, communication, and proofreading skills.
- Versatility in writing styles, including social media, web content, and marketing copy.
- Experience capturing and editing photos/videos and creating graphics using Adobe Creative Suite and other tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics reporting.
- Student experience in social media or related fields.
