About the position

The Social Media Video Producer and Editor at Howard Community College is responsible for creating engaging video content for the college's social media channels. This part-time position involves collaborating with faculty and staff to develop content ideas, shooting and editing high-quality videos, and crafting social media posts that align with the college's public relations and marketing strategies. The role aims to enhance the college's online presence and connect with its audience through compelling storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop written content and videos that align with the public relations and marketing strategic plan.
  • Assist with social media campaigns.
  • Identify, create, and post videos and related content appropriate for each social media platform.
  • Work with PR Manager to build production schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Assemble and operate video production equipment on location and in the field.
  • Coordinate with television and radio to reserve equipment and studios as needed.
  • Edit both long and short form video projects for social media and broadcast.
  • Shoot high-quality HD video content for continuity-style editing.
  • Perform advanced editing and sound mixing in a non-linear environment.
  • Edit longer-form television and radio programs into shorter videos for social media use.
  • Maintain awareness of social media best practices.
  • Conduct interviews and create videos for social media.
  • Make recommendations for improving social media tactics.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience in television production, videography, editing, and social media.
  • Minimum three years of recent and relevant videographer experience.
  • Experience shooting, editing, and posting content on various social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in creating engaging social media video content.
  • Creative eye with expert knowledge in composition, exposure, and depth of field.
  • Advanced knowledge of cameras, shooting formats, file interoperability, lighting, and audio recording.
  • Excellent knowledge of video production equipment and video editing software.
  • Ability to use initiative for problem solving and work independently.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with television studio shoots.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in video production.
