About the position

The Social Research Assistant II will support the Chemical Preparedness and Responses Surveillance Program within the NC Division of Public Health. This role focuses on data entry, quality assurance, and analysis using SAS software to enhance the understanding of chemical release events in North Carolina. The assistant will also contribute to the development of response materials and participate in preparedness activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry and analysis for the Chemical Preparedness and Responses Surveillance Program.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on entered data.
  • Utilize SAS software to conduct epidemiological analyses for annual reports.
  • Update and develop chemical response factsheets based on identified gaps in materials.
  • Participate in preparedness meetings, trainings, and exercises to assist with response activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, sociology, economics, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution and six months of directly related experience; or a high school diploma/GED with four and a half years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with SAS software for data analysis (1 year required).
  • Editing experience (1 year required).
