About the position

The Social Research Assistant II will support the Chemical Preparedness and Responses Surveillance Program within the NC Division of Public Health. This role involves data entry, quality assurance, and analysis using SAS software to enhance the understanding of chemical release events in North Carolina. The assistant will also be responsible for generating reports, updating chemical response factsheets, and participating in preparedness activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform data entry and analysis for the Chemical Preparedness and Responses Surveillance Program.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on entered data.
• Utilize SAS software to conduct epidemiological analyses for annual reports.
• Update and develop chemical response factsheets based on identified gaps in materials.
• Participate in preparedness meetings, trainings, and exercises to assist with response activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, business, sociology, economics, psychology or related field and six months of directly related experience; or
• High School diploma and four and a half years of experience in collecting, interpreting, and reporting statistical or social or economic data; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Working knowledge of methods and techniques used in gathering, editing, analyzing, interpreting and reporting social, educational, or economic information.
• Working knowledge of statistical principles and techniques used in collecting, interpreting, and reporting numerical data.
