About the position

The Social Science Research Analyst at the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plays a critical role in managing Medicaid program projects, providing expert technical consultation, and analyzing state Medicaid demonstration plans. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to support decision-making processes related to healthcare financing and service delivery performance.

Responsibilities

• Direct project management support and serve as a Medicaid program team leader.
• Review, evaluate, and analyze state Medicaid section 1115 demonstration monitoring plans and evaluation designs.
• Provide expert technical consultation with inter-agency or inter-HHS departmental technical work groups.
• Participate in discussions that support decision-making on projects relevant to financial or service delivery performance.
• Analyze and evaluate proposals related to healthcare financing and service delivery system performance.
• Develop recommendations to leadership regarding technical acceptability.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship or National status is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government.
• Experience overseeing evaluations of programmatic, financing, and/or provider reimbursement policies for healthcare programs.
• Technical guidance experience on policies related to Section 1115 demonstrations for Medicaid.
• Experience leading assigned program activities or projects.
• Degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines, or equivalent experience.
