About the position

The Social Science Research and Data Analyst/Senior Social Science Research and Data Analyst at the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR) is responsible for managing the collection and analysis of data across various programs and issue areas. This role involves providing analytic and research support for data-driven projects, manipulating and analyzing large datasets, designing surveys, and producing high-quality reports based on findings. The position aims to enhance the understanding of women's economic power and influence in society through rigorous data analysis and research.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the collection and analysis of data across all IWPR programs and issue areas.
  • Provide analytic and research support for data-driven projects, including manipulating, merging, cleaning, interpreting, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Design and conduct surveys, producing results and analysis; perform statistical procedures common to survey research.
  • Produce high-quality reports, briefs, and fact sheets based on survey findings.
  • Identify opportunities and trends for high impact in research and data analysis.
  • Perform advanced quantitative data analysis utilizing econometric and statistical methods, including simulation.
  • Write high-quality working papers, reports, and presentations based on data and analysis.
  • Assist in designing research to meet high standards of methodological rigor.
  • Coordinate logistical tasks for research proposals and events, and assist with project management tasks.
  • Direct the work of research assistants, interns, and other staff as necessary.

Requirements

  • PhD preferred for Senior Analyst with five years of experience, or a master's degree with at least ten years of experience in a related field.
  • Master's degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field for Social Science Research and Data Analyst.
  • Experience with multivariate statistical methods, survey research, and qualitative research design and analysis.
  • Proficient in STATA, with basic knowledge of R and R Studio; programming in Python is a plus.
  • Experience calculating labor market indicators using CPS, CPS ASEC, ACS, and BLS data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SIPP, HRS, BRFSS is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Superior problem-solving, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
