Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply complex federal, state, and local laws and regulations, program directives, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Interview clients/applicants to obtain information, assess employment and educational history, work abilities, and training interests to determine needed support services.
  • Serve as case manager for assigned caseload, recording findings, recommendations, and services provided; complete case record forms and necessary correspondence.
  • Explain programs to applicants, discuss rules and procedures, assess willingness and ability to comply, identify barriers to participation, and select resources to eliminate barriers.
  • Monitor program participation to determine compliance and take appropriate action to ensure participants fulfill program obligations.
  • Assist with representing the agency on client appeals and appeal hearings by compiling the Summary of Evidence and other agency documentation.
  • Perform investigative and enforcement functions of child support cases, including intake services, absent parent location, and collection of payments.
  • Assess financial resources to determine an absent parent's ability to provide support.
  • Monitor all support payment activity on assigned cases and follow up on delinquent payments.
  • Prepare and submit appropriate documents for court proceedings and serve as court liaison for the agency.
  • Make field contact, including probation supervision and serving notices, orders, subpoenas, and writs.
  • Adjudicate disability claims filed under the Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income Program.
  • Review disability applications to determine appropriate sources of medical, psychological, vocational, and social information.
  • Prepare assessments to determine the claimant's ability to function by applying a multiple-step sequential evaluation process.
  • Conduct Claimant Conferences to explain the disability process to claimants.
  • Assess program eligibility for children placed in the care and/or custody of DCFS and special needs children receiving subsidies.
