About the position

The Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department is recruiting to fill one (1) vacant Social Services Fraud Prevention Supervisor position. This position supervises the Fraud Prevention Unit which provides investigative support services to eligibility staff throughout Contra Costa County. Responsibilities

  • Compiling and providing unit statistics to the Fraud and Appeals Manager on a monthly basis
  • Providing training and mentorship to employees to enhance skills and performance
  • Reviewing and assigning fraud referrals from eligibility staff, ensuring appropriateness, content accuracy, and completeness
  • Reviewing and approving investigators' reports, checking for thoroughness and accuracy
  • Processing reports from the California Department of Social Services on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Monitoring EHSD activities related to the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System and coordinating audits as required by the Department of Justice
  • Maintaining external contracts for law enforcement background check services
  • Administering databases and systems used by EHSD/CFS and Fraud Prevention Unit staff, assisting daily with technical issues, password resets, and user profile maintenance

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Criminal Justice, Business, Public Administration, or closely related field
  • Three years of full-time experience or its equivalent in a law enforcement agency performing investigative duties; or three years of full-time experience or its equivalent in the investigation of suspected fraudulent receipt of public assistance, one year of which must have been in a class equivalent to Social Service Senior Welfare Fraud Investigator in Contra Costa County
  • Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License
  • Possession of a valid Specialized Investigator's Basic Course certificate as awarded by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) OR Possession of a valid Basic Peace Officer certificate as awarded by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) OR Successful completion of the Regular Basic Course certified by P.O.S.T. within three years prior to appointment
  • United States citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship
  • Ability to meet such health standards as may be prescribed by the County Medical Consultant
