About the position

As a Social Worker with the Department of Family Services (DFS), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being of Wyoming families by engaging with individuals and families facing various challenges and connecting them with vital resources. This position is both rewarding and demanding, requiring empathy, resilience, and the ability to navigate bureaucratic processes. You will be responsible for managing a caseload, collaborating with law enforcement and other professionals, and developing comprehensive treatment plans for youth in the community.

Responsibilities

• Determine client needs for basic social services for children and adults.
• Carry a caseload and keep all case file documentation current.
• Work collaboratively with law enforcement, other professionals, and agencies.
• Develop and monitor comprehensive treatment plans for youth in the community and/or placement.
• Monitor, assess, and address community service and restitution needs.
• Provide group educational sessions in cognitive skills to help develop pro-social behaviors.
• Develop discharge plans with the facility, youth, and family prior to discharge.
• Prepare for and testify in court and various meetings.
• Represent high-risk juveniles during hearings and reviews.
• Interview clients, reassess needs, and refer clients to community resources.
• Prepare assessments, design case plans, evaluate progress, and monitor placements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or Administration of Justice.
• 0-2 years of progressive work experience in Social Services Programs, or 3-5 years of relevant experience with knowledge at the level of a Social Services Aide.
