About the position

As the Social and Video Lead for Time Out's US-based content team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our social media and video storytelling capabilities. This position requires a dynamic and creative leader who can motivate a small team to achieve ambitious goals in scale, engagement, and creative excellence. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the production calendar for social and video content, ensuring that we deliver high-quality material across our USA social channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X/Twitter. You will be tasked with conveying Time Out's editorial expertise to an audience of millions each month, focusing on reaching as many people as possible through our social platforms. In this role, you will not only manage the content creation process from pitch to publication but also ensure that all content aligns with Time Out's editorial tone and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with the Editorial, Video, and Social teams to translate our world-class editorial expertise into engaging social-first content. Your keen understanding of social media trends, particularly on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, will be crucial in developing innovative strategies that connect our social channels with our website. While this position is not primarily hands-on in content creation, proficiency in shooting and editing video content, as well as familiarity with the Adobe Suite, are essential. You will need to make data-driven decisions daily, listening to audience feedback to refine our approach and enhance engagement. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership, and a passion for storytelling that resonates with our diverse audience.

Responsibilities

  • Expand Time Out's North American-based social audience on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
  • Deepen engagement of Time Out's social audience with our content.
  • Manage the social media calendar and guide content from pitch to creation, including refining ideas and providing edits and feedback.
  • Ensure cohesion of quality, tone, and style across all Time Out social platforms.
  • Pursue editorial excellence through original ideas, innovation, and timeliness, developing a distinctive brand voice for Time Out on social media.
  • Collaborate with Time Out's Editorial, Video, and Social Teams to translate editorial expertise into social-first content.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Time Out's global content strategy.
  • Monitor performance of social and video content across all platforms and use data to inform future decisions.
  • Follow current editorial guidelines, policies, strategies, and best practices, including the content handbook.
  • Identify and assist with commercial and affiliate opportunities.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience leading the production of social projects from conception through posting.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in the Adobe Suite.
  • A proven track record of expanding social reach and engagement across multiple platforms.
  • Strong copy-editing skills.
