This non-sworn, full-time position works as a supervisor and is part of the Raleigh Police Department's ACORNS (Addressing Crises through Outreach, Referrals, Networking, and Service) Team. The Social Work Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing social workers who engage with individuals experiencing homelessness or living with mental illness, utilizing a trauma-informed and strength-based approach in the greater Raleigh area. This position is essential in ensuring that the ACORNS Social Workers collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including mental health and primary care providers, police agencies, emergency departments, school personnel, and other social service agencies and community partners. The goal is to assist individuals in need and their families in identifying personal goals and creating comprehensive care plans. The Social Work Supervisor is responsible for supervising the outreach services provided by ACORNS Social Workers, which include crisis intervention services, assessments, referrals, and linkages to necessary services. This role involves receiving and reviewing progress reports from social workers, managing caseloads, and ensuring a fair distribution of workloads among team members. The supervisor must document and maintain records in compliance with all agency policies, program procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the supervisor is expected to complete annual training requirements, attend seminars and educational opportunities to enhance professional skills, and lead meetings and training sessions for recruits and in-service employees. Continuous professional development is emphasized, as the supervisor is expected to stay informed about current research and innovative trends related to homelessness, mental illness, and substance use. The role also includes providing consultation on these issues and advocating for the ethical treatment of all individuals. The ability to work as part of a team and traverse uneven terrain during outreach activities is essential, as is the willingness to perform other duties as required.
