About the position
The Social Worker - Adult Protection/Civil Commitment provides essential services to vulnerable adults in Rice County, ensuring their protection and well-being in accordance with Minnesota statutes. This role involves screening and investigating maltreatment reports, managing court petitions for guardianships and civil commitments, and conducting assessments related to chemical dependency. The Social Worker also serves as a case manager for individuals lacking other support services and provides community training on relevant statutes.
Responsibilities
- Completes vulnerable adult assessments and various case management duties associated with vulnerable adults.
- Conducts mental illness, developmental disabilities, and chemical dependency pre-petition screenings for civil commitment.
- Petitions the court for guardianships and conservatorships and monitors the services provided.
- Provides Adult Services case management.
- Attends training sessions and staff/community meetings.
- Performs crisis intervention as needed.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field.
- Two years' experience working with vulnerable adults or equivalent experience.
- Valid Driver's license required upon hire.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working within the court system.
- Master's degree in Social Work.
- Previous experience as a County Adult Protection Social Worker.
