About the position

The Social Worker II position at the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) involves assessing client needs and developing treatment plans to ensure child safety, well-being, and permanency. This role includes a variety of responsibilities related to child welfare, including investigating allegations of abuse, providing case management, and preparing legal documentation. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including families, community groups, and legal professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client needs and develop treatment plans in social service functions.
  • Receive and make reports of alleged child abuse and/or neglect.
  • Assess and investigate allegations of abuse and/or neglect.
  • Develop appropriate interventions and provide referrals for services.
  • Monitor services for children and parents.
  • Remove children from unsafe environments when necessary.
  • Provide case management services and prepare documentation, case plans, and Court Reports.
  • Provide testimony in Court regarding cases.
  • Conduct home visits with children, caregivers, and parents.
  • Assess and address issues specific to the child's and family's circumstances.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Master's degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
  • Two years of social work experience with a Master's degree or four years with a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and community resources.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive casework relationships with clients.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license.
