About the position

The Social Worker position in the Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Service at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System involves providing professional social work services to Veterans and their families. The role requires independent case management, psychosocial assessments, and the implementation of treatment plans tailored to the diverse needs of clients. The incumbent will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to address a wide range of social, emotional, and environmental challenges faced by Veterans, ensuring compliance with VA policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case-appropriate professional social work services for Veterans and families.
  • Conduct case finding functions and outreach to identify and screen patients for psychosocial needs.
  • Implement treatment modalities and provide counseling or psychotherapy for individuals, families, and groups.
  • Assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Offer psychosocial interventions and measure outcomes to interventions.
  • Organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines in assigned program areas.
  • Provide training, orientation, consultation, and guidance within clinical specialization.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited school.
  • Licensure or certification to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • Minimum of one year of post-MSW experience in health care or social work-related settings.

  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to coordinate services.
  • Skill in conducting psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions.
  • Knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses and treatment procedures.
