About the position
The Social Worker MSW/MSW SR position within the Adult Palliative Consultation team at the University of Michigan focuses on providing specialized psychosocial support to patients and families dealing with advanced illnesses. Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and provide counseling to patients and families regarding coping and management related to Palliative and End of Life Care.
- Advocate for patients navigating healthcare systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, Social Work meetings, and committee work to support patient care.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in adjustment, loss, and bereavement issues.
- Experience supporting patients and families with chronic illness and end-of-life issues.
- Experience in medical and mental health social work.
- Current APHSW-C certification.
- Strong competency in emotional communication and rapport building with diverse populations.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
