About the position

The Assistant Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program Coordinator at the St. Louis VA Health Care System is responsible for the clinical and administrative management of the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) and provides oversight for the full SUD program. This role involves leadership, guidance, and coordination of substance use clinical support across the healthcare system, ensuring that program activities align with the overall rehabilitative process for veterans. The position requires a blend of supervisory, program management, and clinical responsibilities, with a focus on evidence-based interventions and continuous improvement of program operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a direct care clinician, supervisor, and program coordinator for the SUD program.
  • Manage staffing, work assignments, and treatment services provided within the program.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to subordinate staff.
  • Oversee the fiscal matters of the OTP, including budget management and equipment expenditures.
  • Develop policies and procedures for program operations and prepare reports for facility and national use.
  • Provide a full range of clinical interventions and consultation services related to substance use disorders.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
  • Licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in social work.
  • Demonstrated advanced practice skills and judgment in social work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or post-master's degree training in a relevant specialty area.
  • Experience in program management and development.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment methodologies.
