About the position

The Social Worker (Program Coordinator) serves as a Program Manager for the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) at the Martinsburg, WV VA Medical Center. This role involves overseeing the Outpatient Intensive Substance Use Disorder (OISUDS) Program and providing professional guidance and oversight for social work standards. The incumbent acts as a liaison to the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) mental health programs and is responsible for administrative and personnel management functions related to supervised staff, ensuring quality improvement and effective program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Social Work Program Manager for the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.
  • Supervise the Outpatient Intensive Substance Use Disorder Program.
  • Provide professional guidance and oversight for social work standards.
  • Act as a liaison to VISN mental health programs.
  • Handle administrative and personnel management functions for supervised staff.
  • Monitor performance measures at local, VISN, and Central Office levels.
  • Respond to congressional inquiries and provide briefings to stakeholders.
  • Develop a data-driven continuous quality improvement program.
  • Identify gaps in workforce competencies and ensure staff receive necessary training.
  • Manage all aspects of program staffing, work assignments, budget, and treatment services.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
  • Licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the master's level.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in social work.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Licensed at the advanced clinical level.
