About the position

The Social Worker (Program Coordinator-CEPC) position at the Department of Veterans Affairs is focused on community engagement and partnerships to enhance suicide prevention efforts for Veterans. This role involves developing and coordinating community-based interventions, facilitating communication among various stakeholders, and promoting a public health approach to suicide prevention. The CEPC serves as a subject matter expert in suicide prevention, working to build coalitions and implement programs aimed at reducing Veteran suicide at local, state, and national levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and write communication products that articulate VA's National Strategy for Suicide Prevention.
  • Oversee outreach to educate community partners, the media, and government stakeholders to enhance the development of suicide prevention coalitions.
  • Identify the specific needs and interests of each group and tailor communications to be effective for each.
  • Monitor feedback and adjust communication and education plans accordingly.
  • Develop, facilitate, and strengthen Community-Based Interventions for Suicide Prevention at community, state, and VISN levels.
  • Connect VA programs and stakeholders to conduct community-based interventions and provide outreach and education on suicide prevention-related topics.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
  • Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in social work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with coalition building and/or non-profit agencies.
  • Experience with Veterans or military populations.
  • A Master's in Public Health from an accredited program.
