About the position

The Social Worker (Program Coordinator) for the Tribal HUD-VASH program at the Fargo VA Health Care System is responsible for coordinating and implementing housing support services for veterans in the Turtle Mountain area. This role involves significant travel, telework, and collaboration with various tribal nations to enhance the well-being of veterans through a holistic health care approach. The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert, providing education, training, and support to staff and veterans while monitoring program outcomes and facilitating group sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement the Turtle Mountain Tribal HUD-VASH Program.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the Tribal HUD-VASH Program.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments of veterans and their support systems.
  • Provide ongoing psychotherapy and supportive counseling to veterans and caregivers.
  • Facilitate group sessions and utilize telehealth for group activities when appropriate.
  • Develop and implement training regarding Tribal HUD-VASH across the Fargo VA HCS and tribal nations.
  • Monitor program outcomes and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Recruit veterans for the Tribal HUD-VASH program and provide education to facility staff.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited institution.
  • Current state licensure or certification to independently practice social work at the master's level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in social work.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals.
  • Experience conducting psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions.
  • Ability to implement treatment modalities for individuals, families, and groups.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or post-master's degree training in social work.
  • Experience in program coordination and administration.
  • Knowledge of VA, community, and tribal resources.
