About the position

The Community Engagement and Partnerships Coordinator (CEPC) at the Department of Veterans Affairs serves as a content expert in community-based suicide prevention. This role focuses on integrating suicide prevention education within the community and developing partnerships to implement programs aimed at reducing Veteran suicide at various levels, including community, state, and Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, facilitate, and strengthen community-based interventions for suicide prevention at community, state, and VISN levels.
  • Connect VA programs and stakeholders to conduct community-based interventions and provide outreach and education on suicide prevention-related topics and services.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in public health and suicide prevention, supporting partnerships and coalitions with community education and outreach initiatives.
  • Implement VHA Community-Based Interventions for Suicide Prevention by collaborating with community, Veteran, and state partners.
  • Develop and provide suicide prevention-related media and marketing materials.
  • Provide a variety of suicide prevention trainings and host outreach awareness tables at community events.
  • Disseminate program evaluation and surveillance data related to suicide prevention with community partners.
  • Promote and utilize evidence-based guidelines at all stages of program development and implementation.
  • Seek opportunities to broaden outreach to the Veteran population to achieve optimum saturation in the catchment area.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited school.
  • Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in social work.
